why tussockmoth? I chose the title tussockmoth
because when I was a baby, my mother nicknamed
me "tussock moth," because of my pale fluffy hair
resembling that of a tussock moth caterpillar,
and also because I was a very hungry baby -
around the time of my birth, there had
been a lot of tussock moth infestations
in the country. they'd been getting into the crops
on a lot of farms, and eating all the vegetables,
and my seemingly endless appetite as an infant
reminded her of that.
